Sweet Butterfly for Sweet Betsy

Writer: Jennifer HooleyJennifer Hooley

Sweet Butterfly (watercolor) … is on its way to Betsy in sunny San Diego 🦋 I painted this for its beauty. Betsy fell in love with it for her own reason. There is a poignancy & beauty in her love of the Butterfly.

"the Butterfly, in its metamorphosis from the simple caterpillar to the exquisite winged creature of delicate beauty, is a metaphor for transformation and hope; it is a symbol for rebirth, light and resurrection, for the triumph of the spirit and the soul over the physical."

Through all Betsy's struggle, no matter what she beams light, love & hope. She has been the epitome of grace through physical change. Betsy is always giving.

"What does it mean when a butterfly lands on you or flutters around you?

If a butterfly makes their presence known to you, whether it’s in real life, through the media, in art, or in some other setting, pay attention. There are no coincidences. Let the butterfly who has crossed your path expand your awareness and sense of wonder. The butterfly has a message for you."

My message is to embrace the ephemeral & embrace every bit of life and of Betsy.

I’m grateful, proud, and darn lucky Betsy fluttered into my life 30 years ago.

She is my fun, my joy and for a long long time through her physical journey & illness has been an inspiration.

And now lucky us, lucky world… beautiful, passionate & meaningful art is flowing from her. Betsy’s Beautiful World = Hope & Love! I love sharing our art journey.

Look for butterflies & think of Betsy! 🦋🦋🦋
